Web Conferencing on Touch Devices: iPad Passes Muster, but Smartphones Fail to Impress, Says webconferencing-test.com

Web Conferencing on Touch Devices: iPad Passes Muster, but Smartphones Fail to Impress, Says webconferencing-test.com

Frankfurt, Germany (PRWEB) April 8, 2011

The iPad is the only touch device to support full-fledged web conferencing functionality. Smartphones’ small screens are an obstacle to online interaction. These are the findings of a recent market survey by webconferencing-test.com. The independent portal tested and compared 36 online meeting tools for iPad, iPhone, Android and BlackBerry. Of the 8 apps available for the iPad, the best are WebEx, Saba Centra and Teamviewer.

According to the portal, 10 vendors offer online meeting tools for iPhones, while 4 provide solutions for Android and 4 for BlackBerry. All solutions support uninterrupted data transmission, while the iPad apps delivered high resolution images.

However, the results confirm that mobile web conferencing is still in its infancy. The full gamut of web conferencing functionality – including transferring control of the mouse and keyboard, changing presenters, accessing a variety of applications, and collaborating on documents in real-time – is currently not available on touch devices – not even on the iPad. In fact, current services could be described as “look, but don’t touch”.

In future, the portal will take performance on mobile devices into account when ranking web conferencing solutions.

World?s First Interactive Webinar Replay — Recast Technology for Online Training and Conferences Released by omNovia

World’s First Interactive Webinar Replay — Recast Technology for Online Training and Conferences Released by omNovia

Houston, Texas (Vocus/PRWEB) January 06, 2011

omNovia Technologies, a leading global provider of web conferencing, high quality webinars, engaging online trainings and live event HD video webcasting solutions, today announced the full release of its patent pending Recast technology. Recast is omNovia’s unique webinar recording technology that creates on-demand interactive replays. Upon playback, all interactive features of the live event are available, exactly as if the viewer was watching the live session.

In addition to redefining webinar recording technology, omNovia’s Recast provides significant savings in cost and time by offering a new way to repurpose recorded webinars. “We have been using live webinars to communicate with our clients. As an organization with offices in many countries throughout the world, we would have to have several live webinars with the same exact content to overcome the differences in time zones. But now omNovia’s Recast allows us to use the content we already have to deliver interactive, on-demand webinars around the clock,” said Victoria Poor, Public Relations and Events Manager at Thomson CompuMark, a business unit of Thomson Reuters.

While recorded webinars give attendees the opportunity to watch a webinar at their own convenience, no matter their schedule or time zone, current technologies offer only one-way communication by producing large file movies with no interactivity at replay time. “omNovia’s Recast is unique among web conferencing recording and playback technologies,” said Ken Molay, a renowned industry expert and president of Webinar Success. “I have been quite impressed with the ability to play back recorded content inside a live session. Audience members can interact with polls, links, and text chat as if the content was truly live, and presenters can add live content such as Q&An or screen reconfiguration even while the playback continues.”

“We believe interaction creates connection,” stated Shawn Shadfar, CEO of omNovia Technologies. “If your attendees can interact with you by typing oppugning, answering polls or downloading presentation materials, you will significantly improve their level of engagement and comfort, as well as their overall experience. This will positively influence how they think about you, your company and your products. Until now, such interactivity was limited to live webinars. What makes Recast revolutionary is its unique ability to combine the flexibility of on-demand webinars with the interactivity of live webinars,” Shadfar added.

Recast, like omNovia’s intuitive meeting platform, requires no software to install. Unlike other recording technologies that often compress audio and video to reduce the file size, Recast keeps the original audio and video quality during the replay sessions. Recast is a trademark of omNovia Technologies Inc.

WebinarMax Announces a State-of-the-Art Webinar Replay Service that Allows for Recording a Webinar Once, then Re-Broadcast in an Authentically Live-Looking Interface

WebinarMax Announces a State-of-the-Art Webinar Replay Service that Allows for Recording a Webinar Once, then Re-Broadcast in an Authentically Live-Looking Interface

Saint Paul, MN (PRWEB) June 27, 2010

Now with WebinarMax harness the power of webinars without even being there. WebinarMax provides an integrated and automated marketing system that can be used to generate leads and sales each week.

Sales pages just aren’t working as well as in years past. Many marketers are turning to webinars to promote their products and services. However it requires much time to prepare and conduct a “live” webinar. Now the software allows for “cloning” a webinar and re-broadcasting on a weekly schedule without being present.

Even novices can make use of this new software with a “point and click” system. Full video training is provided for how to prepare and configure a webinar replay.

Many people can make use to this technology:

Information marketers: There is plenty of time to illustrate, explain and demo features to convert sales.
Internet Marketers: Show a new product or service with a “webinar sales event” to win over prospects.
Coaches: Put on weekly presentations so prospects will build trust.
Network Marketers: Schedule a webinar every night to fully explain the opportunity.
Continuity Programs: Hold a webinar to show clients the value of the product or service.
Travel Industry: Use WebinarMax to promote a cruise vacation or travel destination.
Retailers: Use a weekly webinar replay to sell big ticket items.
Medical Professionals: Use a weekly recorded webinar to educate prospects.

The software requires no manual kick start, so no need to be present. WebinarMax auto detects when guests arrive, so nobody has to miss the beginning of the webinar. The schedule and dates are database driven and synchronized with the webinar event and the registration page. Your webinars are stored and hosted on WebinarMax’s servers so there is no bandwidth or technology worries. The registration page integrates with Aweber and other major autoresponders for full control of the list and email messages.

WebinarMax provides for a free 7-day trial, with no obligation. Affiliates are welcome to promote WebinarMax with available text links and banners.

Free Webinar Directory Launches Beta Mode

Free Webinar Directory Launches Beta Mode

Provo, Utah (PRWEB) November 15, 2010

Free Webinar Directory is a new company with a website that allows both webinar presenters and prospective webinar attendees the ability to list and browse upcoming webinars that are open to the public.

CEO, Steve Miller states “The concept of the Free Webinar Directory website is originated by the lack of a central location where people can announce their webinars to an audience, and where prospective attendees can search for upcoming webinars in specific categories and topics that are of interest to them. Many organizations have great topics and outstanding tools that they are making available through webinars, but struggle to get their message to prospective clients. Free Webinar Directory is a great solution to that problem. In addition, webinars are great visual way to present products, services and information and many people prefer the multi-sensory and interactive way of learning.”

FreeWebinarDirectory.com is currently functioning in beta mode and will be undergoing more refinements and testing in the coming days. Free Webinar directory invites webinar presenters to list their upcoming webinars for free and those interested in attending webinars to come to the website and browse the growing number of webinars that are being listed.

Steve Miller also indicated that the Free Webinar Directory business model is intended to remain absolutely free to companies that want to list their webinars and people that want to browse upcoming webinars.

Len Edgerly interviewed mer for Audio Pod Chronicles: 53 Conversation with Steve Garfield. Listen.Len describes the interview:Video evangelist Steve Garfield met me this morning at Sweet Finnish at 761 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, where each month for the past two years he has hosted Boston Media Makers in a back room filled with fascinating media creators, artists, and gadget freaks who have a chance to meet and share enthusiasms and info. BMM meets the first Sunday of the month at 10 a.m. for two hours. In this interview, Steve remembers how he first got into blogging, then video blogging, a genre he pretty much invented, and now live mobile "storycasting." Steve shows how a playful, experimental, happy engagement with new technology can yield results far beyond a mere effort to "monetize" internet innovation. He does talk about the nuts and bolts of moving toward making a living in this space, as well as what he’s learning right now about the new frontier of mobile live broadcasting. Here’s my blog post with lots of links.
